Cara Hennings, MD, FAAD, grew up in Indiana and graduated summa cum laude from Purdue University with a BS in Biology and a minor in Spanish. She went to Indiana University for medical school and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She then completed her dermatology residency at Vanderbilt University and was named chief resident. Dr. Hennings obtained board certification through the American Board of Dermatology. She has been practicing dermatology in Chattanooga since 2012.
As a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Hennings has published articles in several medical journals and is an author of a book chapter in Fitzpatrick Dermatology, 9e. She is additionally a member of the Tennessee Medical Association and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society. She is president-elect (will be president in 2022) of the Tennessee Dermatology Society.
Dr. Hennings specializes in general medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology and enjoys seeing patients of all ages, including children. She specializes in all aspects of dermatology including hair and nails.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jacob, a local emergency physician, and their two girls. She loves to travel, play golf, and boating.
